# Polish Your Poise with Madame Chic

Polish Your Poise with Madame Chic

Dear Readers,

I am so happy to announce that my newest book, Polish Your Poise with Madame Chic: Lessons in Everyday Elegance, is now out in North America. This book is so important to me. Many might think that it is a simple little etiquette book, but truly, if you apply the concepts in this book to your life, it will enrich your life forever.

Polish Your Poise with Madame Chic revives the timeless quality of poise and shows how to cultivate it as a daily practice and a life-long endeavor.

From the back cover...
Just step out your door today and you will notice that poise is a rarity in our wired, fast-paced, and unmannerly world. As uncivil behaviors like flip-flops at Broadway shows and digital oversharing proliferate, this timely book reminds us of the quiet power of behaving with dignity, kindness, and grace. Jennifer Scott’s Parisian mentor, Madame Chic, embodied poise, and not just with the good posture, stylish attire, and natural manners that made her extraordinarily elegant. She also demonstrated steady assuredness and graceful calm in everything she did—from interacting with her family and receiving guests at home to presenting herself in public. Jennifer L. Scott passes on the lessons she learned as well as some of her own hard-won wisdom, addressing topics such as proper attire at social events, good grooming, communication skills, hospitality and being a good guest, our interactions with neighbors and strangers, role models, self-discipline, and self-image.

This charmingly illustrated, practical, and inspiring book, full of tips, lists, and ideas, is certain to start a new conversation about the timeless art of poise.

I heard about your book last night on Shannon Ables' "The Simple Sophisticate" podcast in her "Petit Plaisir" segment and I am so glad I did! I indulged in some of your YouTube videos before bed and I found you so knowledgeable and inspiring I had to purchase your book on Kindle this morning. I'm on chapter 3 and I am highlighting like crazy! I'm 24 and looking to cultivate poise and have been immersing myself in etiquette and style material and your book is not only timely but absolutely inspiring. Thank you for your writing and videos, they are truly helpful.

Just ordered my copy late last night! Last year I decided to order "At Home With Madame Chic" for my teenage sons to give me for Christmas. When it arrived, I excitedly asked the 15 year old to wrap it and put it under the tree for me. He thought it was pretty strange that Mom would order her own gift and ask him to wrap it for her, and guess what -- on Christmas morning, I discovered he had NOT wrapped it! That annoyed me, since I truly WAS looking forward to unwrapping it then starting it later on that day, but oh well, that's a teenage boy for you. So, for this book I'm not going to make myself wait for Christmas -- I'll begin reading the day it arrives! :-)

Oh Jennifer I am so delighted for you. I enjoyed the first two books so much that I'm looking forward to my copy arriving in Australia -- a trifle impatiently!

Hi Jennifer,
I am a huge fan. I absolutely loved your first two books. But this last book was a repeat of the first two with only a few novel ideas thrown in. That was really disappointing. I waited for months in anticipation of this book. The book in and of itself isn't a bad read. But having purchased the other two previous books....it's pretty redundant. This gives me pause when I consider a future purchase from the Madame Chic series. I hope you will consider writing new content in your next book as I would love to support you.

Jennifer,
I love your books and blog, and I picked up your latest book at the first opportunity, yesterday! I'm still reading it, of course. I just want to offer a preliminary response. It does offer opportunities for discussion. For example, I disagree with you about Natalie Portman as a role model. I became disenchanted with her when she allowed herself to be portrayed as being raped by Henry VIII, with the camera right in her face as she was being raped. Not a lot of poise there. I feel she needs to be more selective about her roles, especially as I feel that portrayals of violence tend to perpetuate violence in our society by normalizing it. As for characters from literature, since I've been emotionally stressed by the Valley Fire here in my community and need some lighter reading, I have been enjoying the "Little House" books by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Talk about characters showing poise through all kinds of trials and tribulations! Well, that's all I have to say for now. Thanks for writing the book, and I'm looking forward to reading the remainder!
Warm best,
Alexandra

Jennifer, thank you so much for your newest book! It is so inspiring and encouraging, and also offers so much practical advice. I enjoy the sections where you recommend certain films, television shows and books as exemplifying poise and, if I may, I would like to add a recommendation. "When Queens Ride By", by Agnes Turnbull, is a short work of fiction written in 1926. It is available for Kindle on Amazon for a nominal fee. It is an inspiring story of a woman who transforms from being depressed and living in squalor into someone poised and contented - and all because of a stranger's fortuitous visit. I think some of your readers might enjoy it. Jennifer, I am so glad I discovered you, your blog, and your books - you have made a difference in my life!
